Okay, so there may be something less than perfect about our favourite hot MILF and military-drama actress. For someone who seems so down to earth, with the roles she plays and with her home life (married for more than a decade, with a four-year old child), it does seem a bit odd that she would be involved with something as iffy as Scientology.

She’s been involved in Dianetics since the 1990s though, and an active one at that. She’s been very vocal about her beliefs in this cult, promoting her beliefs through the church’s Hollywood Education and Literacy Project, and appearing on Howard Stern’s radio show to talk about Scientology, despite being aware about the potential ridicule she’d be getting from the controversial, no-holds-barred host.

At the end of 2005, she even helped promote the gala opening of Scientology’s “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death” museum, which connects Adolf Hitler to the psychiatric profession through some typical conspiracy theory logic.

Ok, so she’s not as high-profile as John Travolta or “Crazy” Tom Cruise, but her involvement in this religion that is generally seen as one big brain-washing cult, taking members away from families and using strong-arm tactics to try and suppress any negative news about them, isn’t something I’d call a good career move. But then, with all the networking she gets to do with other Hollywood scientologists, who knows, maybe this self-professed geek is using her brain after all?

With Scientologists waging a high-profile internet war with the loose internet coalition called Anonymous at the moment, we can only hope that the availability of hot Catherine Bell wallpapers won’t be affected as the battlelines are drawn for the upcoming April 12 “Operation Reconnect” protest against Hubbard’s church.
